Intermediate precision conditions
Within-location changed conditions differ from strict repeatability.
Key knowledge
Intermediate precision conditions include the same measurement procedure and location with measurements over an extended period, while specified other conditions may change, such as calibrations, operators or measuring systems. The changed and unchanged conditions must be named. The resulting precision describes spread under those conditions; it does not by itself establish trueness or compatibility with an external reference.
Conditions and scope
- Use the same or similar objects as appropriate to the declared study; genuine sample changes must not be silently assigned to instrument precision.
- Intermediate precision differs from tightly fixed repeatability and from reproducibility involving changed locations or other stated conditions.

Evidence and review
Read VIM2.22 definition and notes naming extended time and possible changes in calibrations, calibrators, operators and systems. The trueness/sample-change limitation reuses the existing separate precision/trueness definitions.
