Double integrals on simple regions
A continuous double integral can be evaluated by slicing.
Key knowledge
On D={(x,y):a≤x≤b, g₁(x)≤y≤g₂(x)}, with continuous g₁≤g₂ and continuous f on D, ∬D f dA=∫ₐᵇ∫g₁(x)ᵍ₂(x) f(x,y)dy dx.
Conditions and scope
- a,b are finite and a<b; D is a bounded Type-I region.
- This scoped statement does not justify arbitrary swaps of improper or nonintegrable integrals.
