Measurement models
Specify how input quantities determine the measurand.
Key knowledge
A measurement model relates quantities involved in a measurement. It may be implicit, multivariate or algorithmic; Y = f(X₁,…,X_n) is an explicit scalar special case.
Values and equations
h(Y,X₁,…,X_n) = 0; explicit scalar case Y = f(X₁,…,X_n)
- Y
- Measurand/output quantity with its physical unit
- X_i
- Input quantity with its physical unit
- h, f
- Specified relation or function with a consistent unit/domain convention
Conditions and scope
- Specify the measurand, units, influential quantities, corrections and domain.
- Model adequacy and input information both affect the result; a formula alone does not establish adequacy.
