Repeatability and reproducibility
Precision depends on which measurement conditions are held or changed.
Key knowledge
Repeatability assesses precision with the same procedure, operators, measuring system, operating conditions and location over a short interval. Reproducibility assesses precision under a stated set including different locations, operators and measuring systems.
Conditions and scope
- Use replicate measurements on the same or similar objects; state the conditions actually varied or held fixed.
- Precision under either condition does not by itself establish trueness.
