Schwarzschild static-observer redshift
Clocks at different radii measure different light frequencies.
Key knowledge
For static observers outside a Schwarzschild source, ν_recv/ν_emit = √[(1 − r_s/r_emit)/(1 − r_s/r_recv)], with r_s = 2GM/c².
Values and equations
ν_recv/ν_emit = √[(1 − r_s/r_emit)/(1 − r_s/r_recv)]; r_s = 2GM/c²

Conditions and scope
- Both areal radii exceed r_s; ideal nonrotating spherically symmetric vacuum geometry with Λ = 0.
- Observers remain at fixed spatial coordinates; free fall or other relative motion adds different frequency effects.
