Actual 3D inversion: synthetic secret-model comparisons

The Dublin Secret Model 1 benchmark compares three actual 3D magnetotelluric reconstructions of a spiral conductor from synthetic impedance data.
Key knowledge
The Dublin Secret Model 1 benchmark compares three actual 3D magnetotelluric reconstructions of a spiral conductor from synthetic impedance data. A stitched 1D determinant reconstruction is shown separately. Comparing recovered geometry with the known synthetic structure tests inverse recovery beyond forward or sensitivity agreement.
Conditions and scope
- The original structure was withheld from participants, although two model designers used default settings rather than being blind to it; the data were noise- and distortion-free.
- Retain impedance sign/coordinate conventions, selected tensor components, mesh, regularization and error floors. Agreement on synthetic data does not certify real-world geological uniqueness.
