Quantum circuits, gates and resource accounting
Research context

A quantum circuit composes unitary gates, ancillas, channels and measurements from a specified gate set.
Key knowledge
A quantum circuit composes unitary gates, ancillas, channels and measurements from a specified gate set. Universality approximates target operations to a stated precision; it does not provide an efficient circuit for every exponentially large unitary. Input preparation, coherent oracle construction, gate count/depth, qubit count, precision and readout all contribute to cost. Encoding a classical dataset into amplitudes can dominate an advertised computational gain.
Conditions and scope
- State the gate set, input access model, precision, classical preprocessing and error budget.
- Query complexity charges oracle calls and does not automatically include building a real oracle or fault-tolerant overhead.

Evidence and review
Author checked this English statement, displayed equation where present and stated hypotheses against these source locations: Quantum circuits, Grover query/amplitude analysis, Shor order-finding resource discussion; §IV BQP/resource/oracle model, §V QMA promises and 2-local Hamiltonian Theorem 8; historical survey. The check is bounded to the recorded claims; no complete proof reconstruction, software proof replay or universal literature completeness is claimed.
