Combinational digital-circuit model
A combinational output depends on current valid inputs after a bounded settling delay.
Key knowledge
A combinational device specifies an output logic value for each valid input combination and a maximum propagation delay. Once inputs remain stable and valid for that delay, outputs match the specification. An acyclic connection of such devices can itself be combinational.
Conditions and scope
- Logic 0 and 1 are abstractions represented by specified physical ranges; intermediate levels may be invalid.
- Respect component and operating specifications. The model does not guarantee outputs during input transitions or before settling.
Engineering abstraction subject to component, environment and timing specifications; no perfect-hardware assertion.
