Local existence and uniqueness for autonomous ODEs
Local Lipschitz continuity ensures one local trajectory.
Key knowledge
If f:Rⁿ→Rⁿ is locally Lipschitz near x₀, the autonomous initial-value problem x′=f(x), x(0)=x₀ has a unique solution on some interval around zero.
Conditions and scope
- A continuously differentiable f near x₀ is sufficient.
- This is local; solutions can blow up in finite time and need not exist globally.
