Uniform convergence of derivatives
If differentiable real fₙ on (a,b) converge pointwise to f and fₙ′ converge uniformly to g, then f is differentiable and f′=g.
Key knowledge
If differentiable real fₙ on (a,b) converge pointwise to f and fₙ′ converge uniformly to g, then f is differentiable and f′=g.
Conditions and scope
- Use the same interval for both convergences.
- Uniform convergence of fₙ alone does not justify differentiating its limit.
