Thomson inverse-Compton electron loss
An electron in an isotropic soft-photon field loses net power P_IC=(4/3)σ_TcU_radβ²γ² in the Thomson limit.
Key knowledge
An electron in an isotropic soft-photon field loses net power P_IC=(4/3)σ_TcU_radβ²γ² in the Thomson limit. For the same electrons with isotropic pitch angles, P_IC/⟨P_syn⟩=U_rad/U_B. Net loss excludes the energy already carried by incoming photons.

Conditions and scope
- Photon energies in the electron rest frame much smaller than mₑc²; isotropic lab-frame radiation. The loss ratio additionally requires U_B>0 and β>0, so its denominator is nonzero; the power formula itself permits β=0. Strong-field, anisotropic and Klein–Nishina cases require different expressions.

Evidence and review
Read incoming-energy subtraction and net-power derivation. Excluded the source's later net-versus-total photon-energy shorthand at arbitrary β.
